“The purpose of the agreement is to ensure security in this region that is important to us. Separate units of the South Ossetian Armed Forces will become part of the Russian army. In addition, those interested will be accepted under a contract,” said deputy Kazbek Taisaev.
His colleague Alexander Sherin called for more active use of the Russian army in the CIS countries.
“The power of the armed forces must be used for its intended purpose. We should not be shy about increasing our presence in other countries. If the Americans are brazenly supplying Javelins to the Georgian army, we also should not be shy and carry out appropriate activities with our friendly countries,” Sherin said.
