NATO response: Crimea was covered by super cool Russian tanks
Moscow
Crimea was fortified with super-protected tanks - the 126th coastal defense brigade received the latest T-72B3M.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, citing its sources in the country’s defense department.
It is noted that the T-72B3M is one of the most modern Russian tanks; it is capable of hitting surface and air targets. According to the publication’s interlocutors, tank units of coastal troops must have equipment that allows them not only to conduct combined arms combat, but also to repel an amphibious landing. Thanks to the automated fire control system, the T-72B3M can easily destroy enemy landing craft and even small ships. And due to the presence of guided missiles in their arsenal, these combat vehicles can shoot down enemy helicopters carrying troops.
Today, special attention is focused on the southwestern strategic direction, noted former Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ordzhonikidze.
“In recent years, this is where NATO countries have been actively creating tension both politically and militarily. We see not only the large-scale nature of the Sea Breeze maneuvers that are currently taking place, but also the constant approach of military formations and infrastructure of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to our border. This is a serious military threat, and we need to take care of protecting our borders and protecting the territorial integrity of the country. In these conditions, the grouping of forces in Crimea takes on special significance,” the diplomat said.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, Viktor Murakhovsky, draws attention to the fact that the 126th brigade plays a key role in ensuring anti-landing defense on the peninsula and deterring aggression in the event that someone dares to invade the territory of Crimea from the north, and therefore equipping it with modern types of weapons, including armored vehicles, is a timely solution.
“The modernized T-72B3M tank has a significantly increased level of protection due to the use of new dynamic protection kits. They provide him with safety not only from the frontal, but also from the side projections, as well as from damage from cumulative ammunition from above. A modern fire control system with a digital ballistic path can dramatically increase the accuracy of shooting both from a standstill and on the move, and a thermal imaging sight makes it possible to conduct combat operations at night without restrictions. In addition, the new tank is equipped with various types of high-performance ammunition,” the expert said.
