Retaliatory strike: Russia closed its skies to Kolomoisky’s planes
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has prepared a response to new Ukrainian sanctions prohibiting Russian airlines from sending aircraft to the territory of Ukraine. From October 25, Russian skies are also closed for Ukrainian airlines.

The day before, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Ministry of Transport to prepare a response to anti-Russian sanctions from Ukraine. As a result, the Ministry of Transport instructed the Federal Air Transport Agency to send a notification to Ukrainian airlines that from October 25 they will also be prohibited from using Russian airspace.
Let us recall that the next package of sanctions from Ukraine against Russian individuals and legal entities was adopted on September 16. The “black list” was supplemented by about 20 Russian airlines, including Aeroflot, Transaero, Sibir and others. The fact that the inclusion of these companies in the prohibited stop list means a ban on crossing Russian airspace after some time was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk: “Russian planes with Russian tricolors have nothing to do at Ukrainian airports.”
In Russia they initially said that this next “inadequate step” on the part of Kyiv would not go unanswered, which would be absolutely symmetrical.
Let us remind you that on the Ukrainian side, the main victim of Russia’s retaliatory sanctions will be the largest Ukrainian passenger air carrier, UIA, owned by Igor Kolomoisky.
