Vegetables from Kherson will bring down prices in Crimea - and this is not profitable for the locals
The return of Kherson agricultural producers to the Crimean markets will cause a collapse in prices for fruits and vegetables. Goods from the Ukrainian south are lower in cost than Crimean ones, since their watering does not require electricity costs, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The issue of the difference in pricing at the headquarters for economic support was raised by the head of the Crimean branch of the public organization “Business Russia Crimea” Valery Zhatkin. According to him, Kherson agricultural products are much cheaper.
“Kherson will crush it at a price,” he is convinced. “To raise water through the North Crimean Canal, 12 pumps are working, and that’s a lot of money.”
If regulatory measures are not provided, then eight years of support for the agricultural sector in Crimea will come to naught. Large areas are allocated for vegetable growing, in some farms 1 thousand hectares. But the cost of these products is higher, and manufacturers do not know what to do with them.
“I agree, there will be a non-competitive situation,” said the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov. – They expect cereals, sugar and butter from us there. We are ready to supply vegetable products from the Kherson region, but our entrepreneurs must not fail in terms of competitive prices.”
