Ovsyannikov instructed to count everyone who is against the gubernatorial elections in Sevastopol
Acting Governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov gave a sharp rebuke to those participants in today's round table in the city legislative assembly who proposed discussing the problem of direct elections of the governor at public hearings.
“If we have opponents of direct elections, we give you instructions to directly collect all those who disagree in Sevastopol within a month. Express your personal position and do not hide behind procedures,” Ovsyannikov said.

According to him, the government of Sevastopol has already prepared amendments to the charter and sent them to the legislative assembly.
“My personal position is direct popular elections, not by deputies of the legislative assembly. This form is the most democratic and relevant for Sevastopol. A transition period of 2,5 years allows us to expect that a person to whom the townspeople will trust their votes can be appointed head of the city, giving him an advance of trust,” Ovsyannikov said.
Earlier, at a press conference in Moscow, he said that amendments to the city charter would be made in October, and popular elections for governor would take place in September 2017.
According to the current charter of Sevastopol, the governor is elected in the legislative assembly from three candidates proposed by the president.
