Ovsyannikov failed the project to reopen the airport in Sevastopol
The government of Sevastopol has failed to implement the project to restart the operation of the Belbek airport, which Russian officials have been promising residents of the city for the third year.
As the Kommersant newspaper writes today, Moscow for the first time announced the possibility of completely canceling funding for the project.

According to the publication, the authorities of Sevastopol were unable to find a full-fledged investor for the reconstruction of Belbek, and the one that was available wanted to save on everything - even on the fencing of a strategically important facility. In addition, the discussion was only about the resumption of business aviation flights, and not regular flights.
As a result, all deadlines for submitting documents to Moscow were missed by the government of Sevastopol. The federal center threatened to cancel funding for the project altogether.
According to the newspaper, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak harshly reprimanded Sevastopol officials for missing schedules, demanding that Acting Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov provide by April 30 an agreement with an investor ready to participate in the reconstruction of the Sevastopol airport.
“The conversation continued in a raised voice, after which the Deputy Prime Minister threatened to completely exclude the clause on the reconstruction of Belbek from the Federal Targeted Program “Socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol until 2020”, and the 1,7 billion rubles that relied on this. redistribute for other social needs.” – writes Kommersant.
Let us recall that Belbek airport in Ukrainian times carried out civil flights to Moscow and Kyiv. It is more convenient for residents of Sevastopol, since taking into account traffic jams, the road to Simferopol airport takes 2-3 hours.
In addition, Belbek is located much closer to the southern coast of Crimea, and could also be used as a backup airport during fogs in Simferopol.
The previous governor, Sergei Menyailo, repeatedly promised to resume the work of Belbek after the Russian Spring. For this unfulfilled promise, he was repeatedly criticized by opponents from the camp of Alexei Chaly.
The new leader of Sevastopol, Ovsyannikov, who was supported by Chaly’s supporters, also turned out to be unable to implement the project the city needed.
