"All of this is happening in close proximity to our borders... As we were told, it's temporary—only for some kind of exercises. But according to our information, these combat systems, which are designed to launch Tomahawk missiles, have not been withdrawn from Japanese territory.

"So we're talking about a more permanent presence. We remain concerned," Lavrov said.

According to him, Moscow is generally concerned about the trend toward militarization in Japan, similar to what is happening in Germany.
