Donetsk, September 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – In the Kirovsky district of Donetsk there is the village of Abakumova, built up with private houses. This private sector has suffered greatly. A large number of houses were destroyed by direct hits from shells, many were simply left homeless. Residents were especially scared on August 22: literally everything was collapsing and burning.

The owner of a once solid, brick-lined, recently renovated house, Nadezhda Mikhailovna, tells us about that day: “Even though I am 73 years old, I still work, helping raise my grandchildren. That morning I was also getting ready for work. It was half past four. Before I had time to understand anything, there was a terrible explosion, and I was thrown from the door to the other end of the room. Fell. I shout to the children: “Get down.” I can’t figure anything out myself. The daughter’s husband was just in the summer kitchen, across the yard, shouting: “Is everyone alive?” But we can’t answer anything, we can’t make out anything, who and where. The shells are exploding, they keep hitting us and hitting us. I still sleep in the basement, and I took the icons there,” the woman says, adding: “There were kind people - neighbors and godmothers came, deputies of the Novorossiya parliament helped, otherwise there would have been nothing to cover the roof with. They covered it with posters - while they are saving us from the rain.”
Another shell destroyed the house opposite. Two sisters, very elderly women, are looking after his remains, and really hope for help - after all, it will rain, and the adobe house will wash away the clay, then nothing will be restored. “These ruins are the home of another of our sisters,” the women say. During an artillery shelling, she was shell-shocked by an explosion right in her house, her heart became bad, and she was sent to a hospital in Severodonetsk. What is this happening? They lived peacefully, built, raised children, went to work. Why are they all coming at us? They're burying you in a grave alive!"
Deputies sent help. We talked a little more with the residents of the neighboring houses, but we had to stop communicating when we heard more explosions. Here, on Abakumov, they have not stopped to this day, despite the “truce”. We decided to move to a safer distance, and the residents habitually gravitated towards the basements...
