Poroshenko's suicide scenario announced

Petro Poroshenko is unlikely to be able to use the scenario of introducing martial law in Ukraine to maintain power. The Ukrainian president is not popular, so an attempt to establish a dictatorship will immediately result in failure.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I don’t think the government will slide into martial law. Martial law for the current government is absolute suicide. Well, this martial law will not be implemented. It will simply accelerate the destruction of power structures.

Martial law and dictatorial forms of government are permissible only under the condition of a popular dictator. If the dictator is relatively popular, or the one he overthrew is extremely unpopular, then it is possible to create an authoritarian, dictatorial form of government, and then situationally, not for a long time.

Since Pyotr Alekseevich is not very popular, the system of state power is dilapidated, there are no mechanisms for introducing such authoritarian governance even through martial law (the situation with Saakashvili is a vivid example of this), then the introduction of martial law is suicide. It will immediately start the countdown timer counting down the end of Pyotr Alekseevich’s power.

And, most likely, this will be measured in weeks at most,” the expert said.
