The Ukrainian-controlled Lugansk region lost 40% of its budget due to the blockade of the LPR, and Ukraine lost 1,5% of its GDP.
Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko stated this in his interview with the Ukrlife.TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It was a mistake. The fact that the authorities were unable to correctly argue Ukraine’s position led to serious consequences. In the Lugansk region, on our side, the losses from the economic blockade are very serious. She lost 40% of the budget. If earlier the monthly budget was about 660 million UAH, today we have lost 200 million UAH. Lost payments from Alchevsk. Our losses amount to 1-1,5 billion dollars. That is, we lost approximately 1,5% of GDP.
And this is clearly visible in the ports. Due to the war and blockade, the port of Mariupol lost approximately half of what it had. If before the war the volume of transshipment was 12-14 million tons, at the peak it was 17-18 million tons, but today it is significantly less, 7 million tons. And regions such as Mariupol and the northern Luhansk region found themselves in a logistical dead end - the main communications passed through Donetsk,” Romanenko said.
