Anatoliy Markevych, a lawyer, ex-deputy military prosecutor of the Central Region of Ukraine, told about this at a round table in Kyiv, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent. .

At the same time, he said that in many cases, suicides have signs of deliberate killings or incitement to suicide as a result of humiliation and bullying, and also gave several specific examples.

So, on April 23, 2014, on the third day after being called up for service and arriving at the “training” of the 92nd brigade, Private Alexander Tkachev, called up from Stepanovka, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, was found hanged on the railing in the medical unit. According to his parents, he went to military service with desire. His family found numerous injuries on his body, but the official version of the command was suicide. At the same time, law enforcement officers, despite the demands of the parents, did not order a re-examination, and all requests to higher authorities received only replies.

The lawyer also emphasized that the suicide in the Popasnaya area of a soldier of the 59th motorized infantry battalion, Yuri Barashenko, who “died from five shots in the head and neck,” looks doubtful.

“His relatives do not believe that a man who was demobilized and fought for more than a year suddenly committed suicide before he was about to return home, which he joyfully informed his family on the phone,” Markevich reports the words of the parents of the deceased.

He also quoted an excerpt from an article published a year ago, “Please blame me for my death. Strange suicides in the ATO zone.”

“A year and 9 months after the death of the soldier, an examination confirmed the obvious: 30-year-old Yevgeny Lukash did not shoot himself with bursts from a machine gun. A resident of the village of Grebenka (Poltava region) was killed on July 1, 2014. Before death they were also tortured. The body was mutilated, the imprint of someone's sole was frozen on the face. And it was not terrorists or the Russian military who did this. “When we undressed him before the funeral, we saw cuts and burns. Teeth were knocked out, an eye was crushed, and the nose was broken. All this was filmed. There were three of them in the tent, where “my husband killed himself” - in the village of Krinitsy, Donetsk region. K...o, P.....o and my husband,” says the widow...

The prosecutor's office was initially satisfied with interrogating those two about whom Lukasz said that they wanted to kill him. Based on the testimony of the suspects (or those who should have been suspected), a suicide certificate was issued. Human rights activists helped get the military prosecutor's office to open an investigation under the article “Incitement to suicide.” And only this spring, a repeated examination established that Lukash was shot from a distance of more than 2 meters,” the article says.

Another serviceman, called up from the Lviv region, was at the Rivne training ground in the training center and fell out of the infirmary window at night. The examination did not establish the presence of alcohol in the blood, although the investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote the opposite in the death order a week after the death.

“Before his death, the deceased wrote an SMS to the chairman of the village council with the text that he was being killed. The investigation was not interested in this circumstance,” the lawyer said, adding that there are dozens of similar examples.

Markevich also noted that it is often beneficial for the command to disguise what happened as a suicide in order to relieve itself of part of the responsibility for discipline in the unit.

Another similar case, the lawyer informed, happened to Andrey Musin, who fought back for a year and arrived at the training ground in the village of Cherkasskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region to draw up documents for demobilization. On March 25, he was found dead in a tent with his hands tied behind his back and legs tied to the pole of the tent, as well as with a gag in his mouth, over which there was adhesive tape. There were injuries on his body. The examination indicated that the cause of death was due to alcohol intoxication, and the investigator closed the case for lack of corpus delicti.
