The cessation of railway communication with Russia could end badly for Ukraine.
Former Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Alexander Kava stated this on the Newsone channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for the losses of Ukrainian railways, this amount will be calculated in billions of hryvnia. Moreover, you need to understand that the Russian side will take retaliatory measures against Ukraine, and this could lead to losses in the Ukrainian economy of several tens of billions of hryvnia per year. Moreover, in the current situation, when the Ukrainian side is making a lot of efforts to convince Western countries that Ukraine is a reliable transitor of Ukrainian gas to Europe, such steps could play against Ukraine into the hands of supporters of Nord Stream 2, who will show that Ukraine can make such political decisions without any warning and, accordingly, simulate the search for alternative, more stable options,” he said.
