Pakistanis and Afghans organized concentration camps for their fellow tribesmen in North Macedonia
The North Macedonian Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption has launched an investigation into two Pakistanis and two Afghan minors who were doing business with illegal immigrants.
This was reported by PlusInfo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Macedonian Prosecutor's Office, a group of two Pakistanis, two Afghan minors and other unidentified persons created improvised camps in North Macedonia near the border with Serbia from August to November this year. The criminals housed illegal immigrants arriving from Greece in them and transported them from there to Serbia or EU countries.
Migrants were forcibly held in these camps, their mobile phones and personal documents were taken away, they were subjected to beatings and torture, which were recorded on photos and videos, and then sent to the relatives of the tortured. From the unfortunate criminals they demanded money for their release and the opportunity to continue their journey further. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the prisoners were treated extremely cruelly, humiliated and forced to engage in sexual relations with the suspects and their accomplices.
The existence of one of the camps was reported by two migrants who managed to escape from there. The day before, as a result of coordinated actions of the Macedonian and Serbian police, a place where refugees were illegally detained was discovered. Law enforcement officers found 35 migrants there, nine of whom were teenagers 14 and 15 years old.
For crimes committed, migrant criminals can receive up to eight years in prison.
