“Shells” were installed on the roofs of buildings in Moscow against UAVs
Anti-aircraft complexes "Pantsir", o the appearance of which on the roofs of houses in Moscow was reported the day before, are installed primarily for the purpose of combating enemy drones.
The ex-chief of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Special Forces Command (Moscow Air Defense District), reserve colonel Sergei Khatylev, said this in an interview with the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.
“All this is being done to combat unmanned aerial vehicles that fly at extremely low altitudes.
Judge for yourself: the detection range of a drone by air defense systems is 30 kilometers or less. All locators and stations of our S-300, S-400, and Pantsire complexes are located 25 kilometers or more from the borders of Moscow. That is, it turns out that there is no one directly above Moscow itself to detect the air intruder. That’s when we came up with a proposal: we need to create another air defense system directly inside the city,” the specialist said, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It should be noted that earlier in Ukraine they announced a fundraiser with the aim of creating a “swarm” of drones and attacks on Moscow.
“A terrorist is capable of doing something similar - launching a drone while located directly within the city limits or close to it. A quadcopter with a couple of grenades can generally be launched from a balcony. And this threat cannot be underestimated. Society as a whole must be vigilant. It can even organize air defense squads, like during the Great Patriotic War, and track the same quadcopters,” Khatylev said.
“Muscovites should be vigilant now. The military also shows such vigilance, installing air defense systems inside Moscow on the roofs of houses to combat drones capable of flying at low and extremely low altitudes. The fight against them is a common cause,” the colonel urged.
