The pandemic will bury the “Ukraine project” in its current form
The time is coming when the former Soviet republics that declared “independence” must confirm their viability as capable states capable of overcoming serious challenges. Not all limittrophic formations can cope with this task.
This forecast was voiced by the famous Russian political scientist and international affairs expert Fyodor Lukyanov on the TV Center channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our former Soviet republics have reached the moment of truth - because when no one cares about them, the question arises: is the state viable or insolvent? Wealthy not because the USSR collapsed, and 15 countries were recognized as a result of the collapse, but wealthy in fact, poorly, poorly, but capable, a state that is able to exist without expecting that someone will take it somewhere. This problem is now in full swing, and not everyone will pass this test,” the expert noted.
According to him, countries that based their policies on the idea of integration into the EU and NATO, such as Ukraine, made a fatal mistake, because this road is now closed to them.
“Now a lot has been reset, and for countries that have built their policies on the path to where they give identity - “here you go, you are now a European.” They didn’t succeed for various reasons, and now they have nowhere to go. This is quite fatal,” Lukyanov concluded.
