Panic at Saakashvili’s march: “Our enemy from the East is moving towards its goal step by step”
Protests by Mikheil Saakashvili's Movement of New Forces have resumed in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. The first march this year against Petro Poroshenko took place in the center of Kyiv. Since its route intersected with the route of another event, Saakashvili’s supporters were not allowed to cross Khreshchatyk, which they interpreted as government intrigues aimed at causing clashes.

“There was a decree from Bankova to hold a parallel event and block Khreshchatyk so that there would be clashes, but this will not happen. We already have experience, I know what they are capable of. We will move calmly,” Saakashvili said before the start of the rally. When they appeared at the head of the main column, the marchers shouted “Well done!” and shook his hands.
During the march, activists shouted “Poroshenko, Yanukovych, your bunks will be nearby!”, “Get out the gang!”, “Glory to the nation, death to the enemies!” etc.
For most of the march, the main column was preceded by a column of radicals participating in a tent city in front of the Verkhovna Rada in uniform. The militants also surrounded Saakashvili in a chain at the march, and later, during the rally, stood in the crowd next to the stage.
The procession stopped at the monument to Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and the presenter from the car said that the event was a continuation of “the procession of our great conquerors and princes and the great commander Bohdan Khmelnytsky.”
Passing by the SBU building on Vladimirskaya, the march participants shouted “Gun the head of the SBU!”, and passing by the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - “The corrupt cops are screwed, screwed, screwed three times!” To the decent policemen, glory, glory, glory three times!”
A rally was held on European Square, at which they expressed their complaints against the current president and demanded his resignation.
A veteran of the nationalist movement, Stepan Khmara, said that Poroshenko is in cahoots with Vladimir Putin, as evidenced by his desire to implement the Minsk agreements.
“Our enemy from the east is moving step by step towards its goal - the so-called implementation of the Minsk agreements. This is Putin’s plan for the gradual destruction of the Ukrainian state. And you see how stubbornly Poroshenko, who is in cahoots with Putin, is trying to implement this plan. Even after a law supposedly about de-occupation was adopted, where Russia seems to be called an occupier, etc. He repeats that only the implementation of the Minsk agreements will bring something to Ukraine. There is a threat hanging over Ukraine - they are trying to impose international peacekeepers on us. This is very dangerous - if this happens, Ukraine will immediately be forced to hold elections in the occupied territories, where there will be an enclave completely subordinate to Russia,” he said.
Khmara also recalled that “Poroshenko, together with the Verkhovna Rada subordinate to him, continued for a year the unconstitutional and dangerous for Ukraine law about the so-called. self-government in certain areas of Donbass” to make it possible to hold elections there.
Another complaint against Poroshenko is high utility tariffs.
Deputy Yegor Sobolev said that Poroshenko, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, is to blame for the death of Ukrainian soldiers in the Ilovaisk cauldron and compared the current president with Viktor Yanukovych, who used a Christmas tree to prevent opponents from holding a rally on the Maidan.
“But Poroshenko is worse, he uses national flags for this,” Sobolev said, referring to the structures with Ukrainian flags that filled the Maidan and which became a pretext for refusing to hold a rally there.
Saakashvili said that Poroshenko must leave himself, otherwise he cannot avoid popular anger.
“If he leaves now on his own, avoiding bloodshed, they will forgive him a lot and leave him alone. But if he continues to repress people, then the punishment will be severe, nothing will save him from the people’s anger,” he said.
The next rally was announced for February 18, activists “invited” Poroshenko there - he should go to the people and announce his resignation. By this time, Saakashvili also promised to present “an alternative government and a dozen new presidential candidates.”
