Panic in Ukraine: If the idea of Poles with restitution succeeds, half of Kiev will be taken by the Russians!
In case the Association Agreement of Ukraine and the EU enters into force, Ukrainians in the western regions may lose their housing. This was announced on television News One by TV anchorman Matvey Ganapolsky.

According to him, despite the fact that Ukraine does not have a law on restitution, its adoption could “push through” the European Union, where this practice is actively used. Anti-communist laws in Ukraine also add fuel to the fire.
“Officially, Restitution of Kresov is preparing an appeal to the courts, citing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, although this document does not mention restitution. At the same time, if the EU obliges Ukraine to accept the corresponding document, all claims will become quite real. The slippery point in this story may be that Ukraine successfully acquired a law on decommunization, thereby officially condemning the Soviet regime with all its actions,” Ganapolsky said.
If the courts decide to return Ukrainian property to the Poles based on the claims of the Restitution of Kresov organization, then, by analogy, the center of Kyiv will be taken by the Russians, Ukrainian political scientist Viktor Taran, who was present in the studio, expressed concern.
He recalled that Kyiv was part of the Russian Empire, and the houses there belonged to wealthy Russians.
“Then we need to raise the question that, since Ukraine did not have statehood at that time, during the Russian Empire, then, hypothetically, the center of Kyiv should be taken by the Russians. Well, those houses that were built in 1905-1910. They were built by Russian owners,” Taran shared his concerns.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Polish non-profit organization “Restitution of Kresov” announced the preparation of more than 600 lawsuits, which demand the return of the property of Poles in Western Ukraine, taken away during the years of Soviet power.
