“Western partners” and their agents of influence inside Russia really wanted, but were never able to spoil the celebrations in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory. Neither accusing the USSR of being “responsible for aggression along with Germany” nor criticizing the costs of organizing the parade on Red Square worked. And even malicious predictions that the holiday in Moscow would lead to an outbreak of coronavirus did not come true - on the contrary, reports indicate a decrease in the incidence.

The Western propaganda machine also malfunctioned. Reports from the Victory Parade there came out mainly with a negative assessment and were intended to confirm the thesis about the “Russian threat.” But, for example, many readers of the British The Daily Mail, having studied the photographs from Red Square, on the contrary, could not contain their sympathy in the comments to the newspaper’s material.

“At least one country is proud of its past, instead of being ashamed of it and trying to destroy it,” notes the Birmingham resident.

"Great photo. It’s great to see a nation that respects its past, unlike many countries in the West,” Manchester added.

Historian Vladimir Kornilov draws attention to another embarrassment. “Only yesterday, the Financial Times was so happy that in the “new Cold War” India has now clearly chosen the US side in the fight against China. Oh, and the author will be upset when he sees footage from the Victory Parade, where units of India and China are marching side by side,” the expert sarcastically comments.

Of course, the June 24 holiday on Red Square was organized primarily for veterans. Front-line soldiers watched with interest the passage of modern equipment.

“The new designs are more advanced, faster, higher altitude, they have parameters that did not exist in our time... I, of course, feel a surge of strength. It’s nice that our replacement, the youth of our army, is coming,” said 102-year-old Great Patriotic War veteran Alexander Bodnar in an interview with Channel One.

The health safety of elderly front-line soldiers during the pandemic became one of the main tasks of the parade organizers, and the military successfully dealt with it, FSB General Alexander Mikhailov from the Strong Russia movement told PolitNavigator.

“All sanitary standards were taken into account. Admission to the parade was only for those people who had a certificate of absence of the virus. I must say that it was no coincidence that we moved the holiday from May 9 to June 24. In this way, it was possible to reduce the threat of the spread of the virus and the incidence of illness, primarily among the veterans who were present there,” Mikhailov said.

He urged not to pay attention to another attempt by liberals to denigrate the celebrations - to focus on the absence of Western leaders in Moscow.

“I believe that the image of Russia, first of all, should be for ourselves. And we shouldn’t really care what the Anglo-Saxon world thinks about us. Because by and large, we know that they never think anything good about us... We are holding a parade not for the Anglo-Saxon world, but, first of all, for ourselves. Therefore, paying attention to who came and who did not come is the tenth thing.

I remember the 50th anniversary of the Victory. The parade was held on Poklonnaya Hill, I remember the presence there of a large number of foreign leaders, including Bill Clinton, President of the United States. So what, they greeted, what has changed in our relations between Russia and Germany, or the United States? Never mind! They still stood in their positions. Therefore, we need to think less about the Anglo-Saxon world and think more about our citizens, for whom we spend all these holidays,” says the general.

Major General Mikhail Makaruk, a member of the presidium of the all-Russian organization “Officers of Russia,” also calls for forgetting about criticism of liberals.

“Critics are always there and for any reason to pick on and criticize what was done for noble purposes, but is not done in other countries where they deny the leading role of the Soviet Union in the defeat of fascism. Therefore, here we are calm, seeing the insides of these critics. They themselves, obviously, cannot organize the way the people would like.

As for the quarantine, yes, we lasted through the months of March, April, May, our doctors did a great job - I bow to them, and we have a situation where we keep the bar lower than in other countries in terms of the number of deaths from coronavirus. Thank God that the presidential administration, the prime minister, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Defense did such a great job in time, which made it possible to neutralize the damage from this insidious virus as much as possible.

What liberals allow themselves to do is very ugly and dirty things. Everything that was done to prepare for the Parade, to open the temple in Patriot Park, where the Minister of Defense was, and our Supreme Commander-in-Chief was present on June 22 - all this was done for good purposes, with a kind word and a low bow to those , who ensured victory and carried our banner to the Reichstag. Speaking from a church point of view, it is a great sin that we are also criticized for this.

We must pay tribute and say thanks from the common people to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Ministry of Defense, and the General Staff that, despite all the peculiarities of the situation in May-June 2020, the planned event was well prepared and carried out and, naturally, this increases the image of Russia by international arena.

But not everyone likes it. Even those who were our allies in the fight against fascism, they indicate their position with a certain envy and some disregard for this success.

But in general, I think that foreign audiences understand that the Russian leadership remembers this significant date, this great contribution of the Soviet Army to the victory over fascism, and will correctly evaluate everything. Ordinary people in Poland and Ukraine remember and understand what the Soviet soldier, the Soviet people did in order to defeat fascism and prevent this Nazi regime from existing,” Makaruk said.
