Paradox: Filaret’s followers fled Donbass, but Greek Catholics remained
Unlike the Greek Catholics, the “Kiev Patriarchate” abandoned its parishioners in Donetsk.
About this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Vesti. Reporter,” said Bishop Kliment, head of the Information Department of the UOC (MP), responding to reproaches from the “Kiev Patriarchate”, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, regarding the fact that on May 11, Bishop Barsanuphius of Novoazov, vicar of the Donetsk diocese of the UOC (MP), took part in the celebration of Republic Day In Donesk.

“I don’t know about this, and I would not dare to comment on any actions of a priest or bishop who serves in the Donetsk region, I have no moral right to do so,” the UOC representative emphasized. – It’s very convenient to sit in Kyiv and criticize. The Kiev Patriarchate fled from there and abandoned its flock, although the Greek Catholics remained and continue to serve. Our Church has repeatedly stated that it stands for the preservation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
