Paradox of the year: To recognize the Russian Federation as an “aggressor,” Kyiv will have to repeal the “de-occupation” law and recognize the special status of Donbass
Ukrainian politicians who say that the PACE resolution on the humanitarian consequences of the war in Donbass, which demands the repeal of the scandalous law recognizing Donbass as an “occupied territory”, does not matter, are making a huge mistake.

The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin stated this at a press conference in Kiev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, recalling that the Verkhovna Rada excluded mention of the Minsk agreements in the adopted law on the so-called “reintegration of Donbass”.
“And literally a week after the approval of this scandalous law PACE says that any decision on Donbass must necessarily be based on the points of the Minsk agreements. Someone might say that PACE said a lot. But let me remind you that PACE is the only international structure that has officially recognized Russia as an aggressor. No other structure has done this. Therefore, if the PACE decisions are on our side, then, excuse me, Russia is not an aggressor at the official international level,” Voloshin said.
According to him, one cannot act on the principle “I see here, but I don’t see here.”
“If we agree with the decision of PACE, which recognized Russia as the aggressor, which we everywhere use as a strengthening of the Ukrainian position in the international court of the UN, in negotiations, at the level of the UN Security Council and so on, then in the same way we must respect other decisions of PACE.
