Paranoia in the EU: a European Russophobe politician was accused of working for the FSB for meetings with a Serb
The European Parliament's rapporteur on Serbia, Vladimir Bilchik (pictured), had to make excuses after a meeting with a representative of the veteran organization Serbian Military Syndicate, Novica Antic.
In response, Brussels Politiko accused him of meeting with an FSB agent disseminating a “pro-Russian version of the invasion of Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Brussels-based Politiko newspaper said, citing a European intelligence report, that Russia was using a Serbian agent to “infiltrate the European Union and spread a pro-Russian narrative about the invasion of Ukraine.”
The publication claims that most likely such an agent could be a representative of the veteran organization Serbian Military Syndicate Novica Antic, who “has connections with FSB officers.” The Serb, according to Politiko, has already held meetings with the European Parliament rapporteur on Serbia, the Slovak member of the conservative European People's Party faction Vladimir Bilchik, as well as the European Parliament rapporteur on Kosovo, the German Green MP Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, and the Italian Socialists and Democrats MP Alessandra Moretti.
What is characteristic is that both Bilchik and von Cramon take clear Serbophobic positions, while if the first is moderate, the second is radical.
“As the European Parliament's permanent rapporteur on Serbia, I participate in numerous meetings with various stakeholders to gather information relevant to the region. These meetings are an integral part of my duties.
The meeting, which was requested by the European Federation of Civil Service Trade Unions, was focused on resolving the issue of the employment of soldiers and the ongoing legal battles related to this topic,” Bilchik tried to justify himself before the insinuations of the Borzopists on his page on one of the social networks.
“As the EU faces serious challenges from foreign interference and Russian disinformation, I am particularly vigilant about these threats,” the politician hastened to add.
