The hairdresser of the organizer of the blockade of Crimea received 10 years in prison
The Kirov District Court of the Republic of Crimea sentenced 22-year-old Crimean Dilyaver Gafarov, accused of participating in an illegal armed group for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the press service of the FSB department for the Republic of Crimea.
“It was established that in February 2016, a resident of the peninsula voluntarily joined the ranks of the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion named after Lenur Islyamov. N. Chelebidzhikhan", operating in the border areas of the Kherson region of Ukraine.
Being a member of this illegal armed group, supporting the goals of its creation (implementation of the blockade of Crimea from the Ukrainian border, as well as the struggle, including armed, for the return of the peninsula to Ukraine), Dilyaver Gafarov from February 2016 to July 2017 took an active part in activities of the battalion: was involved in administering the page of the “battalion named after. N. Chelebidzhikhan" on the social network "VKontakte", participated in the construction of barriers near the Russian-Ukrainian border, inspected cars crossing it, and also carried out other instructions from the leaders of illegal armed groups. While in the battalion, the Crimean completed courses in small arms and hand-to-hand training.
In February 2018, he returned to Crimea, however, having a real opportunity to voluntarily cease his participation in the illegal armed formations, he did not apply to law enforcement agencies with a statement about this, thereby continuing his criminal activities by participating in the battalion.
On October 30, 2018, a Crimean citizen was detained by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service Directorate for the Republic of Crimea. The investigative department of the FSB opened a criminal case against him on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
On August 28, 2019, the Kirovsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea found Dilyaver Gafarov guilty of the incriminated crime and sentenced him to 10 years in prison with a restriction of freedom for one year, to be served in a maximum security correctional colony,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement.
It is interesting that Gafarov denied guilt at the trial and insisted that he allegedly only worked as a hairdresser on the ATR TV channel.
