The Bulgarian Parliament approved the supply of hundreds of Soviet-made armored personnel carriers to Ukraine
The Bulgarian People's Assembly by a majority vote approved the initiative of the new pro-European government to supply military equipment to Ukraine.
This decision differs from the strategy of the previous cabinet, which did not want to interfere in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Bulgarian deputies voted for the supply of armored vehicles to Kyiv with 148 votes in favor, while 52 people's representatives were against.
We are talking about hundreds of Soviet-made armored personnel carriers, which were purchased by Sofia in the eighties of the last century and were never used.
“Bulgaria no longer needs this equipment, which could become a valuable support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia to preserve its independence and territorial integrity,” the Bulgarian government said in a decision.
The supply of armored vehicles to Kyiv was opposed by socialists and the young right-wing patriotic movement “Renaissance”, which takes Russophile positions and condemned local Westerners for “treason and shame.”
