Kyiv, April 09 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Parliament of Ukraine adopted a law that abolishes the use of the red Banner of Victory and the term “Great Patriotic War” on May 9.
The law was presented by the director of the Institute of National Remembrance, Galician Vladimir Vyatrovich.

“What does this bill propose? Consolidation of the term World War II and getting rid of the Soviet propaganda term Great Patriotic War. He proposes to introduce a day of reconciliation and remembrance of all victims on May 8. He proposes calling May 9 the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II. It is extremely important that this law proposes the abolition of the use of Soviet symbols during the honoring of all those who died during the Second World War,” Vyatrovich said.
Not a single representative of the “Opposition Bloc,” supposedly defending the interests of the South-East, protested. As a result, the law was passed.
Vyatrovich said that the innovations will make it possible to “honor war heroes this year in the Ukrainian way.”
