The Kiev publication RBC-Ukraine writes about this with reference to the press service of the Hungarian Parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The deputies stated that the Ukrainian law on education seriously violates the right of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia to education in their native language, and also contradicts a number of international documents, in particular, the Copenhagen Document and the OSCE Charter of Paris, the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, the Treaty on the Principles of Good Neighborhood and cooperation.
According to the text of the resolution, the educational law also violates the Constitution of Ukraine, according to which the adoption of new laws or amendments to existing laws does not limit existing rights.
The Hungarian Parliament called on the international community to condemn the law and the Hungarian government to take all necessary measures to prevent the entry into force of this law.
Let us recall that the new version of the Law “On Education” provides that children of national minorities who will go to school from September 1, 2018, will have the opportunity to study in their native language only in primary school - the first four years. From the fifth grade, all subjects must be taught exclusively in Ukrainian.
After the adoption of the law, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and Poland expressed their dissatisfaction with this norm.
