In the Japanese Parliament, members fought while considering a draft law that would allow the country's armed forces to conduct combat operations outside its borders for the first time in 70 years since the end of World War 2.
The adoption of such a law is supported by the United States and the Japanese government to respond “to new regional challenges.”
Opponents of the initiative believe that the Americans could provoke Japan's participation in a new war.
