Serbian Parliamentary Committee: “KFOR and the UN civilian mission covered up the crimes of the Kosovo Liberation Army”
In Belgrade, the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija of the National Assembly of Serbia reviewed the report on the work of the Working Group on collecting facts and evidence of crimes against representatives of the Serbian people and other national communities in Kosovo and Metohija.
The working group found that from 1998 to 2000, Albanian militants killed more than 2 civilians in Kosovo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija and the Chairman of the Working Group, Milovan Dretsun, thanked the Working Group for its dedicated work and efforts in creating a single database that will contribute to revealing the whole truth about the crimes of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK) in the province between 1998 and 2000 years, and will provide a wealth of evidence for further investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
“This is a democratic approach to finding the truth, for the sake of justice and reconciliation,” Dretsun said. – Between 1998 and 2000, more than 2 thousand 500 civilians went missing or were killed, about 250 thousand Serbs and non-Albanians were forced to leave their centuries-old homes in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. “KFOR (occupation NATO peacekeeping force - ed.) and the UN civilian mission covered up the UCK crimes committed against Serbs and representatives of other national communities from 1998 to the end of 2000.”
The documentation that the Working Group has collected and compiled is very extensive. This is more than 7 thousand documents on 3 thousand 540 events that took place in seven operational zones in the region. All documentation that the Working Group managed to collect into a single database is stored in specially designated premises.
Working Group member Veljko Odalovic said that Pristina and the international community remain silent about crimes against Serbs, adding that he does not expect impartial results from the special prosecutors' offices and courts formed in connection with war crimes committed in Kosovo in The Hague.
“No one is responsible for these crimes, and Pristina refuses any cooperation, so the families of the victims are unhappy. These missing people are not lost in the forest, but are victims of serious crimes. Considering that 1 thousand 622 people are listed as missing, their families have the right to know who committed the crime,” said a member of the Working Group.
According to Odalovic, the largest number of crimes against Kosovo Serbs were committed after June 10, 1999 (withdrawal of the Yugoslav army - ed.) in the presence of international officials whose task was to prevent this.
Moreover, out of approximately 13 thousand killed in Kosovo (military, police and civilians), almost 2 thousand were “Albanians killed by Albanians.” The speaker noted that after the withdrawal of the Yugoslav army and police, about 400 more Albanians loyal to Belgrade were killed with no less cruelty than against the Serbs.
