Parties will run away from the coalition in the Rada like rats from a box - political scientist
Ukraine is entering a period of political turbulence, says Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management.

“This turbulence can develop in several directions. It could lead to a reformatting of the government, not necessarily with the resignation of the prime minister, and, more likely, to a reformatting of the coalition. Those political forces that are now actually the internal opposition may leave the coalition,” he noted.
The reason for this, according to Bortnik, is the upcoming local elections and the desire to maintain their ratings.
“It is clear that the socio-political crisis and the decline in confidence in the authorities in the winter will create a situation of “rats locked in a box” and many of their political forces will want to leave this box despite the losses and the position of the West, which requires maintaining the stability of the coalition,” points out political scientist.
Bortnik predicts that before spring a completely different coalition may appear in the Ukrainian parliament, in which there will be one “Petro Poroshenko Bloc”, which will “digest” the “People’s Front” and “UDAR” and which, possibly, will be joined by non-factional deputies.
“But in this coalition there may not be members of the current coalition who will start their game with an eye on the next political cycle,” says the political scientist.
