The party of the outgoing Dodon rushed to save the Russian language in Moldova
The parliamentary faction of the Socialist Party, which, after losing the elections, was headed by the current president Igor Dodon, developed a bill on the use of the Russian language.
This was reported by Cenzura, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The bill provides for the opportunity for citizens of Moldova to contact government bodies in Russian and, if necessary, receive answers in the same language.
“In relations with state institutions, public administration, including enterprises and organizations located on the territory of Moldova, the language of written and oral communication is the state language and/or Russian as the language of interethnic communication at the choice of the citizen,” the document says.
The document also states the right of citizens to receive translations of documents approved by authorities. Earlier, the Republican Council of the Socialist Party decided to “abolish the censorship imposed by the former oligarchic regime on television and radio broadcasting” and resume the broadcast of Russian information and analytical television programs in Moldova.
In the near future, draft amendments to the Code on Television and Radio Broadcasting will be proposed to remove censorship in relation to television channels broadcast from the Russian Federation.
Let us remind you that Igor Dodon promised to protect the rights of Russian-speaking people in the country during all four years of his presidency, but did nothing for this. So in June, the Moldovan parliament did not put on the agenda a bill to abolish restrictions on the retransmission of Russian television programs, because the socialists did not want to split the ruling coalition with the Democrats, the former party of the criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc.
This did not stop the Democratic Party from betraying Dodon just before the second round of the presidential elections, in which he lost to Maia Sandu, who never hid her desire to fight “Russian propaganda.”
