Vakarchuk’s party is for the linguistic genocide of Donbass
The “Voice” party in the Verkhovna Rada may support the initiatives of Vladimir Zelensky’s team regarding the languages of national minorities, but the status of the Ukrainian language as the state language cannot be revised.
Deputy head of the Golos party Yaroslav Yurchyshyn stated this on Channel 5 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Zelensky’s team takes up the law on languages of national minorities, which we have committed to develop as a development of the law on languages, we will support and help in every possible way, because this area of language legislation also needs to be regulated.
If there are any attempts to revise the possibility of functioning of the state language, we will counteract this with all available methods, with an eye to the fact that in fact the Ukrainian language, especially after the times of the Soviet Union and the period of Yanukovych, the Kivalov law, needs protection and development.” , says Yurchyshyn.
When asked by the presenter whether the special status of the Russian language in Donbass could become the key to peace, the deputy head of Golos categorically rejected such a possibility with standard excuses about “Russian tanks” and the “absolute non-infringement” of the Russian language in Ukraine.
“This is doubtful, because as soon as the special status of the Russian language appears there, Russian tanks immediately appear in order to “protect” people, we already have Russian tanks there. Therefore, what will we gain by giving a special status to this language, which does not need a special status, because it is not infringed upon in Ukraine, like no other language? Therefore, I think that so far there is no such initiative, we can comment on this quite generally, but we will definitely be against it,” added Vakarchuk’s associate.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, the head of the Servant of the People party Dmitry Razumkov did not rule out that residents of Donbass may receive wider rights to use the Russian language in the region.
