This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnik, commenting, in particular, on the recent statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Alexander Turchynov, about his readiness to introduce martial law in the country
“I consider this topic an attempt by the war party to blackmail the peace party in order to put pressure on the president,” the expert believes. “It is obvious that Ukraine today is on the threshold of some kind of peace initiatives, progress in terms of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.”
“It seems to me that every time one of our leaders declares a Russian invasion or something like that, we urgently need to call an ambulance,” the expert added. – So many ill-considered statements were made, for which in the West, if they were not confirmed by practice, would mean at least the immediate resignation of such a person and the loss of his political future, since he discredits the state itself. These statements are aimed at escalating the situation, at maintaining society in a situation of fear and reactive tension, in which it is more easily manipulated.”
