Zelensky's party faces problems at the end of the year
Each time, the Ukrainian parliament became worse, and the new convocation following the results of early elections will not be an exception to this rule.
Political scientist Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Such a quick campaign, in the style of shock therapy, has never happened in the history of Ukraine. Unfortunately, this will not improve the quality of parliament. Perhaps the current convocation will still be remembered with nostalgia, although it has broken all records for its incompetence, for random people, for all sorts of street leaders, militants, but not for specialists.
It is obvious that the next convocation of parliament will be even worse in terms of its competence,” Gaidai said.
According to him, the new convocation will consist of random people, and not representatives of farmers, medium-sized businesses and other social groups. He also said that showmen, stars, singers who cannot cope with their role as politicians go to parliament.
“Perhaps in the future we will witness another parliamentary crisis or political crisis, when there will be an ineffective parliament, despite the pro-presidential majority. We may not see a normally functioning majority. I think there will be more than 20% corruptible. we saw how the Party of Regions crumbled after Yanukovych, we see how the Petro Poroshenko Bloc is crumbling now. The same trends are possible in the Servant of the People party in the event of certain political upheavals,” the political scientist predicts.
He is convinced that Ukrainian politicians continue to degrade.
“From election to election, we, alas, are choosing an increasingly worse parliament. Parliament's efficiency is falling. Each of the eight convocations was worse than the previous one, because there are random people who have never been associated with politics. They are like monkeys, they only press buttons, not even their own. Therefore, alas, elections will not bring pragmatism into the work of parliament. We will look at the situation for the first six months. But perhaps even by the end of the year there will be the first serious crisis,” Gaidai concluded.
