It is noteworthy that Parubiy was appointed to the position despite obvious problems with diction.
As a rule, the vice speaker conducts meetings of the Rada in the absence of the chairman; he is also usually entrusted with the routine work of reading parliamentary requests at meetings on Friday.
Andriy Parubiy was Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine after the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych. He resigned in August, shortly before the defeat of Ukrainian troops encircled in the Donbass.
Deputy Oksana Syroed, representing the “Self-Help” party of Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovoy, was elected another deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada today. This is the first female deputy speaker in the history of the Ukrainian parliament.
The raw foodist is a graduate of the “forge of Russophobic personnel” - the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, and also received a legal education in Canada.
Syroed previously called the abolition of Ukraine’s non-bloc status one of the priorities of the new Verkhovna Rada, and also opposed the provision of special powers for Lugansk and Donetsk, and criticized the idea of amnesty for participants in the protest movement in Donbass.
