This was stated by Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy at the award ceremony for fighters of Ukrainian volunteer battalions.

“For tens of years they wanted to show the Ukrainian as a lard-eater, some kind of frightened person. And suddenly they saw a Ukraine of warriors, a Ukraine of free people... the spirit of a warrior awakened in Ukraine,” the official said.

“The whole world is watching you, admiring you, it’s true, great honor to you, boys and girls,” Parubiy addressed the volunteers.
