Parubiy promises a tomos for Christmas and calls Bartholomew to the Rada
In early January, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople will present the tomos to the head of the newly convened Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Epiphanius.
Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andrey Parubiy announced this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On January 6, at the beginning of January, the direct transfer of the tomos will take place. At the invitation of the Ecumenical Patriarch, I, on behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, will also take part in this important historical event. I want to confirm that I invite Patriarch Bartholomew to come to Ukraine and speak in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. I am convinced that we must salute this outstanding man with dignity,” he said.
