Parubiy reported on “mental deoccupation”
The Ukrainian parliament of the previous convocation allegedly did a lot of “good” for the country and people.
This was stated during the first plenary meeting of the new Rada by the ex-speaker of parliament, now MP from the European Solidarity party Andrei Parubiy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the adopted laws, we gave a start to systemic reforms in the country. This is a decentralization reform, which I consider one of the most successful in the country, educational, pension and medical reform. And I am especially proud that the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation carried out decommunization - the mental, ideological deoccupation of our country. Propaganda of anti-human, Nazi and communist regimes is prohibited. And I am convinced that you all support these decisions.
I consider the Ukrainian law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language, which we approved on May 8, 25, to be a strategic achievement of the Verkhovna Rada of the 2019th convocation; we have been working toward this for many years. We have legislatively expanded the Ukrainian-language information and cultural space. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ensured the renaissance of the revival of Ukrainian cinema, which we can see today in our cinemas. We have established mandatory elements of the Ukrainian language on television and radio,” Parubiy said to thunderous applause from the audience.
He also attributed the rehabilitation and provision of benefits to Ukrainian fascists and collaborators of the last century to the achievements of the previous parliament.
“We created the Department of Veterans Affairs. The law established the day of the Ukrainian volunteer - March 14. The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law granting UPA fighters the status of combatants, and also provided well-deserved benefits to all participants in the struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century, to all victims of Nazi persecution and victims of repression in the 20th century,” the ex-speaker of parliament boasted.
