Parubiy opened a new season of the B##d choir
Today the Verkhovna Rada met for the first time after the summer holidays, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Traditionally, the new session began with the performance of the anthem “Not Yet Dead” under the dome of the Ukrainian parliament, the current composition of which, as previously reported, by Internet users dubbed the “b##d choir.”
In his welcoming speech, Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy called the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections “an internal challenge for Ukraine.”
“The key issue is the issue of national security and the continuation of reform in accordance with NATO standards. We must consolidate the Euro-Atlantic direction in the Constitution of Ukraine,” Parubiy said.
President Poroshenko’s project to amend the Constitution was warmly supported by the head of the BPP faction, Artur Gerasimov.
“Voting for these changes will clearly demonstrate who is for the Ukrainian state and who still wants to return us to the Kremlin’s imperial orbit,” he said.
“The next task is to legislate the slogan “Glory to Ukraine - glory to heroes” as an official military greeting. This year, at the independence parade, our troops used this greeting for the first time, instead of the outdated Soviet-style greeting,” Gerasimov solemnly announced.
