Parubiy will go to the USA to complain about Nord Stream 2 and ask for money
Europe does not understand that Nord Stream 2 threatens it, but Ukraine, Moldova and the Baltic countries understand this.
This opinion was expressed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy at the opening of the XNUMXnd Interparliamentary Conference “Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: strengthening the interparliamentary component of regional and security cooperation and developing interaction with the EU and NATO,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we talk about security, we also talk about energy security. Here, a symbolic step in cooperation between our countries and the countries of the Baltic-Black Sea belt was the signing of a joint letter with the heads of parliaments of the Baltic countries, Moldova, and Poland on the construction of Nord Stream 2. Anyone who understands the process knows that Nord Stream 2 is one of Russia’s methods of aggression, one of the methods of political blackmail against the civilized world.
It’s a pity that all European politicians don’t understand this, but all our states, which at one time or another felt Russia’s energy blackmail, understand that this is not an economic issue, Nord Stream 2 is not an economic project, but political project, aggressive project of Russia.
It is symbolic that at the end of this month, on June 27, when we are in Washington, we will have a meeting with Speaker Ryan (Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan), with the speakers of Georgia, Moldova, Lithuania, and, hopefully, Poland. One of the topics of our discussion will be the issue of preventing the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project,” he said.
Andriy Parubiy also said that at the meeting in Washington, among other things, he would raise the issue of creating a regional center that would develop a concept in response to the challenges and threats facing Ukraine and other countries in the region.
Other participants in the Interparliamentary Conference did not touch upon the issue of Nord Stream 2, and were generally less radical in their views on “civilizational challenges.”
