Parubiy invited Bartholomew to Kyiv
Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy invited Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to speak from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The politician spoke about this during the opening of the morning meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I just had a meeting with the exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine: Archbishop Daniel and Bishop Hilarion. This visit is the paternal response of His Holiness the Patriarch to two historical appeals from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine, about the provision of a tomos of autocephaly. I told them that the Ukrainian people are more mobilized than ever. All Ukrainian Orthodox Christians are awaiting the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarch. And I believe that before the end of the year we will hear good news from Constantinople from the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. This is what all our people are waiting for, this is fair, and I believe that this is God’s will,” Parubiy said.
The politician said that he invited Bartholomew to give a speech from the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament.
“Also, on behalf of the entire Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I invited Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to visit Kyiv and speak here in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. And I believe that this visit will take place soon,” the speaker said.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that the Patriarchate of Constantinople acts in the interests of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, making “non-canonical decisions.”
