Parubiy let slip that a handful of Mejlis members were against Russia
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Parubiy began today's meeting with a speech on the occasion of the “Day of Crimean Resistance” celebrated in Ukraine, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the clashes near the parliament of Crimea on February 26, 2014, when militants of the Mejlis and the Right Sector disrupted the meeting where deputies intended to proclaim a referendum on return of the 1992 Constitution.
Parubiy, probably without suspecting it himself, changed the name of the Ukrainian date, calling it “the day of the Crimean Tatar resistance.” It is possible that in the future the name will be clarified and will begin to sound like “the day of the Majlis resistance,” which will be quite consistent with the truth, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Exactly 5 years ago, on February 26, a mass rally of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatars took place in Simferopol to support the integrity of Ukraine. Our Ukrainian Crimean Tatars from all over Crimea gathered for the rally.
Then, when Putin lied that Crimea wanted to go to Russia, the Crimean Tatar people, for whom Crimea is their homeland, loudly declared to the whole world that Crimea is Ukraine, and they will resist the Russian occupation of the peninsula,” he said.
Andrei Parubiy also promised that with the help of pro-Ukrainian “Tatars” Ukraine would allegedly defeat Moscow.
“This day has forever gone down in the history of Ukraine as the day of Crimean Tatar resistance to Russian occupation, which we celebrate at the state level.
On this day, we respectfully remember the brave sons of the Crimean Tatar people, prisoners of Moscow. We will definitely free them from captivity in Moscow, along with all Ukrainians who are prisoners of the Kremlin.
I thank our Crimean Tatar brothers-in-arms! Together - we are force! Together we will defeat the enemy and return Crimea,” he concluded.
