Parubiy is furious: The Rada suddenly started speaking Russian
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada should not vote for a new law on the state language.
Deputy and presidential candidate Alexander Vilkul stated this today at a plenary session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I want to again urge people’s deputies from all factions in parliament, I know there are reasonable people in all factions, do not vote for the language law, this law is not about supporting the state...” Vilkul said, switching to Russian.
However, after this, the dumbfounded speaker Andriy Parubiy turned off the deputy’s microphone and demanded to speak in Ukrainian.
“Andrey Vladimirovich, if you think that the language you speak is Ukrainian, then you are very mistaken,” Vilkul concluded, leaving the podium.
“The language I speak was spoken by my grandfathers, my great-grandfathers, father and mother; I was raised with it from the cradle. And in the hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine I will not allow speeches in a non-state language. I have spoken about this more than once, and I warn you again: I will not allow it,” replied the indignant Parubiy.
