Parubiy branded a deputy who proposed the Verkhovna Rada to dissolve itself as an “agent of Putin”

The current parliament of Ukraine is dysfunctional; early elections are needed. Deputy Yuriy Boyko (Opposition Bloc) stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“I think we won’t be able to pretend that we either have an artificial political crisis or a normal situation in parliament. We must admit that we have a full-scale political parliamentary crisis, and this is a consequence not only of the work of the parliament itself, but also of the government as a whole. Because if you analyze what has happened over the past two years, you can see that in the external direction we have blocked the Association Agreement, and this is already a reality.

We have very big difficulties with the visa-free regime...

In the internal situation, we have a tariff and social crisis, which is caused by an actual reduction in salaries and pensions for people and a sharp increase in tariffs.

At the same time, there is a parliamentary crisis, as I already said, because there is no majority in parliament, and the parliament itself passes 10-12 laws during a session week, the lion's share of which have practically nothing to do with what really worries people.

And here a simple question arises: why should such a parliament continue to work? Why continue the session if he does not work during the regular session, during the regular week, or, if he works, then convulsively, passes 5-7 laws in a day, in two, and then stops his work...

Let's be honest with voters, the parliament did not take place. Let’s disband ourselves,” he said.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy did not agree with this assessment of the work of parliament.

“Last week we adopted the most important laws for society - bill 2706 “On Heat and Communal Energy”, the amnesty law, the law on special operations forces. These laws carry a lot of weight,” he said.

“It seems to me that someone is not interested in a parliament that is capable of defending the country, capable of fighting corruption. Someone wants a quick dissolution of this parliament,” he said, recalling the example of Moldova, where the suspension of the parliament’s work led to the suspension of assistance from the IMF.

“The topic of early elections is aimed at stopping the country on the path of reform, to stop the country during the war. It seems to me, Mr. Yuri, that this is not a Ukrainian scenario. This is a scenario that they are trying to impose from the outside. The parliament is stopped in Putin’s dreams; in fact, he works and defends his country,” Parubiy added.

Yuriy Boyko, in turn, did not agree with the speaker. “You talk to people, ask what they think about parliament. The word “deputy” is already perceived as a curse word. The level of trust in parliament is zero,” he said.
