“Mrs. Natalya, I ask you to speak in the state language, I have already talked to you about this topic, if it’s not difficult. On the podium of the Verkhovna Rada, a state body, we cannot see this either in France, or in Germany, or in any other country in the world. My big request to you,” said Parubiy.

Korolevskaya did not argue with him and continued her speech at the “mov”, wishing only that Parubiy’s request concerned not only her, but all the deputies of the Rada.

Deputy Alexander Dolzhenkov did not agree with Parubiy’s call, speaking from the podium in Russian: “I have a very big request to the chairman. Dear Andrey Vladimirovich, we have regulations, there is a law on the fundamentals of state language policy, where Article 9 clearly states that a speaker can speak in a different language. Meetings of the Verkhovna Rada are conducted in the state language, committee meetings are conducted in the state language, and the speaker has the right to speak in the language he speaks.”

In response, Parubiy demanded that the deputy’s microphone be turned off. “There is the Constitution of Ukraine, which stipulates that the state language is Ukrainian,” he snapped.
