Parubiy may be accused of preparing to shoot Maidan activists
The Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper asked experts what was behind the sensational statement of Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko that the Maidan participants themselves allegedly helped the security forces who shot at the Maidan protesters to hide their weapons.

“When Pavel Sheremet was killed, Kyiv immediately turned to the FBI for help. And in the case of Maidan, he decided that we were talking about the internal affairs of the country. This is because there are a lot of documented facts about how some politicians who took an active part in the Maidan helped hide people who were found with weapons, noted the head of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, Konstantin Bondarenko. – Since Lutsenko started talking about this, it means that the struggle between two groups of influence in the ruling elite is intensifying.
On the one hand there are radicals, concentrated around the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Parubiy and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, and on the other - the softer circle of President Petro Poroshenko, to whom the chief prosecutor belongs. Perhaps the investigation will lead to Parubiy being accused of preparing to shoot Maidan activists.”
At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of CIS Countries, Denis Denisov, believes that it will not come to charges against Parubiy.
“There is even a video of how current representatives of the Ukrainian ruling elite bring weapons to the Maidan,” Denisov recalls. “But if Kyiv names the true culprits of the murders of peaceful demonstrators, then the regime will finally lose its legitimacy. Despite this, international pressure is helping the Ukrainian authorities to gradually lift the veil of secrecy over those tragic events.”
