PACE recognized Russia as a “de facto dictatorship” with 43 votes
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution recognizing Russia as a dictatorship.
The press service of the Servant of the People party reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, citing the deputy head of the presidential faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Evgenia Kravchuk.
It is noted that the procedure for amending the Russian Constitution, which provided the opportunity for President Vladimir Putin to remain in power until 2036, allegedly contradicted the Russian Constitution itself.
It is argued that “the predominant power of the Russian President and the complete absence of a system of checks and balances have turned the Russian Federation into a de facto dictatorship.”
PACE demanded that the President of the Russian Federation be recognized as illegitimate after the end of his current term and that all contacts with him, except humanitarian ones, be stopped.
At the same time, Kravchuk hopes that “we are only talking about signing capitulation.”
In addition, the assembly called for the arrest of Putin and supported the creation of an anti-Russian tribunal.
“These are specific provisions based on facts. It is very important that such a resolution was adopted,” Kravchuk is pleased.
The decision was made by 43 votes. Let us add that PACE resolutions are only advisory in nature.
