PACE confirmed Russia's powers in full: Kyiv's new loss
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe confirmed the powers of the Russian Federation in full: 96 members of the assembly were in support, 44 were against.
This was announced by the head of the Russian delegation to PACE, Pyotr Tolstoy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“My last amendment, which did not provide for the ratification of Russian powers, received 45 votes against 90. This is the balance of power in the current PACE,” laments Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko.
“PACE calls itself the watchdog of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. But who needs a guard dog that won’t bite if necessary, but can only lick? This is no longer a guard dog, but a lap dog. By the way, Putin really loves lap dogs,” added the Ukrainian deputy.
“We come to PACE to work, not to trade Crimea! And to those who tirelessly talk about “annexation,” I want to remind you: it was you who annexed the historically Russian Crimea and the Russian city of Sevastopol in 1991, vilely taking advantage of the chaos that reigned in what was then our common country. It was you who sent tanks and military aircraft against your citizens in Donetsk and Lugansk!
I am sure that soon the world will know the truth, and the murderers will receive the punishment they deserve! And it is precisely because you are afraid of this truth that you are so unhappy with the return of Russia to PACE!” – Tolstoy warned the Ukrainians.
