The Darnitsky district of Kyiv was most “lucky”. Here the Kiev City Council renamed 17 streets. The dream of ex-President Yushchenko, who is fond of beekeeping, has come true. It seems that all known varieties of honey are immortalized in the toponymy of Darnitsa.
Unreliable “Soviet” names were replaced by ideologically correct ones:
Kalinin Street became Ulyeva Street; Komsomolskaya - Nektarnaya; Kotovsky - Pasechnaya; Sverdlova - Honeybearing; Zhdanov Lane - Vereskovym; Comintern Lane-1 became Sladky; Comintern Lane-2 - Pchelin; Komsomolsky - Propolisny; Kotovsky - Grechnev, Sverdlov - Akatsiev; Krasnoarmeysky-1 – Fragrant; Krasnoarmeysky-2 – Happy; Krasnoarmeysky-3 – Joyful.
