Pashinsky called Muzhenko’s words that in 2014 he was not allowed to drive the Russians out of Crimea “nonsense.”
The head of the parliamentary committee on defense of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Sergei Pashinsky, who held the position of acting in 2014. head of the Presidential Administration, called “nonsense” the statements of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko that at the height of the “Crimean Spring” Ukraine was ready to transfer several planes with soldiers and equipment to the peninsula.
Pashinsky stated this on Channel 5.
According to Pashinsky, Muzhenko allowed the Ilovaisk and Debaltsevo cauldrons to happen, and he is not allowed to talk about the transfer of soldiers to Crimea.
“According to the Chief of the General Staff, when the invasion of Crimea began, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff said that we could raise five thousand combat-ready troops on alert. It’s strange to me that Mr. Muzhenko is now saying this, saying that he could knock out a group of Russians, which numbered up to 50 thousand, with them. Then the question is - Mr. Muzhenko in August 2014 had much more combat-ready troops in the east, tens of thousands, and when the Russians entered, we received the Ilovaisk cauldron. Mr. Muzhenko had much more troops near Debaltsevo, and when the Russians went on the attack, we surrendered Debaltsevo,” Pashinsky said.
