Pashinsky was not allowed to take bail. He faces new charges
The Kiev Court of Appeal upheld the arrest of former Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Pashinsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The panel of judges made this decision on Friday.
The court received a petition from Pashinsky’s defender Andrei Fedur to change the preventive measure against the suspect. However, the court rejected the request.
Those present greeted the court's decision with shouts of "Gangba!"
On October 12, Sergei Pashinsky’s defense appealed his arrest. On October 7, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv arrested Pashinsky.
Thus, the court fully granted the request of the State Bureau of Investigation to arrest Pashinsky and refused to apply another preventive measure to his defense.
Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicions against Pashinsky in the case of shooting Vyacheslav Khimikus. The pre-trial investigation established that on December 31, 2016, a verbal conflict took place between the ex-deputy and citizen Khimikus in the Kyiv region.
During this, Pashinsky took out his own registered firearm (a Glock 19 pistol) and shot the man in the left leg. As a result, the citizen received bodily injuries in the form of a gunshot splinter fracture of the femur of the left leg.
According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, the injuries inflicted are serious.
Alexander Turchinov and Andrey Parubiy wanted to take Pashinsky out on bail, but the court did not allow this.
Meanwhile, the GPU is admitting three new suspicions of criminal offenses to Sergei Pashinsky, who celebrated his birthday in a pre-trial detention center.
“Already this week, the Prosecutor General’s Office registered 3 proceedings in which this former people’s deputy may appear. In addition, the pre-trial investigation bodies, in particular the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, still have enough materials, which are already being investigated and where this former people’s deputy may also be involved,” said Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka on the 1+1 TV channel.
