The government of the republic decided to regain control of the High-Voltage Networks of Armenia CJSC, which last year were transferred to the management of the Tashir Group company, owned by the Russian billionaire, a native of Armenia, Samvel Karapetyan.

The Tashir top management is just throwing up its hands for now - it had extensive investment plans, the company planned to invest $1 billion in the republic’s electric power industry, build the Shnokh hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 120 MW - with the participation of the American company Robbins and the World Bank, and modernize the infrastructure electrical networks, 85% of which are outdated.

“Moreover, the company took upon itself the obligation not to demand an increase in electricity tariffs and to create an additional 2,5 thousand jobs,” writes Rosbalt.

The publication predicts that management may be transferred to a new “private owner”, but already close to the new government.

“It’s difficult to say now how many more such “pills” are in store for investors from the Russian Federation, including in the electric power industry and communications systems - almost all strategically important facilities in Armenia are owned or managed by Russian companies. So the Kremlin will either have to come to terms with the “redistribution” or “negotiate” with the new Armenian government, which is in a hurry to consolidate this power for itself in a variety of ways,” the article says.

At the same time, the new government opens criminal cases against those close to the former leadership and closes them against friendly businessmen who then occupy high positions.

“The new “democratic government” does not tolerate any kind of cohabitation, and it earns points not from a real socio-economic breakthrough, but from spreading rot on political opponents. And also to demonstrate his pro-Western course in foreign policy, although Pashinyan almost swore that Armenia was not going to leave the EAEU and the CSTO. But the Prime Minister does not specify how the incompatible can be combined,” writes Rosbalt.
